What Is the AES-LPM Large Aerosol Particle Monitor?
The AES-LPM is engineered for continuous monitoring of coarse particles that settle or adhere to products and manufacturing equipment. Such contaminants commonly trigger coating blemishes, glass surface flaws, printing failures, precision component contamination and other quality issues.
It detects particles at 5 µm and delivers reference readings for 10 µm, 20 µm, 30 µm and 50 µm. This coverage makes the AES-LPM a practical solution for tracking visible, process-impairing contamination that cannot be fully captured by fine-particle counters alone.
How Does the AES-LPM Help Prevent Product Defects?
Ongoing coarse-particle monitoring enables operators to spot rising contamination levels before widespread product defects occur. The unit refreshes data every second and adopts a 300-second measurement cycle for stable particle assessment.
A clear four-level LED indicator delivers instant visual status. Once abnormal particle concentrations are identified, staff can trace contamination sources, review cleaning protocols and implement corrective actions to protect subsequent batches.
Flexible Outputs for Facility and Process Integration
The AES-LPM is equipped with alarm, Ethernet, analog voltage, Wi‑Fi and RS‑485 outputs for seamless connection to mainstream monitoring and control systems. These interfaces support standalone alarming, centralized data logging, remote viewing, BMS, SCADA, PLC and other process automation architectures.
An optional CHU-L151-11A-AES sensor adds continuous temperature and humidity monitoring. This extra environmental data helps assess factors that drive particle generation, alter material properties, degrade coating quality or destabilize production processes.
Where Can the AES-LPM Be Used?
Thanks to its compact form, the AES-LPM can be mounted close to critical processes, inspection stations and production equipment where coarse particle contamination threatens quality. Multiple units can be deployed across a plant to monitor several production or inspection points simultaneously.
Default measurement output is pcs/5 min. It can also be configured to display readings in pcs/m³, pcs/cf or pcs/L to match diverse monitoring and data management needs.
Applications
- Paint and Coating Booths: Continuously monitor particles settling onto wet paint or coated surfaces, which cause bumps, inclusions, uneven finishes and other visible defects.
- Automotive Painting Lines: Track particle fluctuations that degrade surface finish, raise rework rates and reduce yield during vehicle and component painting.
- Glass Manufacturing and Inspection: Watch for coarse particles contaminating glass surfaces during production, handling, coating, assembly and final inspection.
- Printing Operations: Detect airborne and settling particles that compromise print quality, contaminate substrates or damage sensitive printing hardware.
- Electrical Panels and Sensitive Equipment: Monitor particle buildup around electrical enclosures, control panels and electronic systems to safeguard operational reliability.
- Precision Manufacturing: Identify large particles that interfere with tight-tolerance parts, delicate assemblies, surface treatment and finished quality.
- Product Inspection Areas: Monitor contamination near inspection stations, where surface particles may be misread as product defects or disrupt optical inspection systems.
- Multi-Point Facility Monitoring: Deploy multiple monitors around key processes to pinpoint local contamination events and compare conditions site-wide.
- Other Industrial Processes: Track coarse particles in any environment where contamination impacts product quality, process repeatability, cleaning cycles or equipment performance.
